We had a lovely morning working at Valleyview winery. And then we took off towards Cavee Junction found a swimming spot on the Illinois river and had lunch sitting in the river sitting in the river. So lovely.
Then we continued another hour down Highway 199 and the Smith River to the redwoods National and state parks (Jedediah Smith). We could tell at least a 15 or 20° difference when reaching the redwoods because of the coast temperature is so lovely. From 90° one side of the redwoods to 62° on the coast in a matter of minutes. Once in Redwoods - we walked a short while on Walker Road which allows dogs (and Kit is a 'bark ranger', so...)...
Then onward to the Oregon coast! We stopped in Brookings for some groceries and various and sundry items… Then continued up another 15 minutes to Arch Rock along the Samuel Boardman corridor, which is a beautiful highway right along the coast with epic views of rocks and cliffs along the beautiful coast. Tons of trees for spruce. Rocks jetting straight out of the water waves. Totally epic scene. We made pasta primavera with sausage items in our fridge and garlic bread and salad and spritzer with aperol. Yay…
Today we are setting off along the Oregon coast and driving 3 1/2 hours to Beachside state recreation area to meet up with Sara who’s driving down from Bellingham Washington this morning. Before we head out, we’re going to hang out at Lone Ranch Beach Beach north of Brookings and check out the tide pools...
